Description
I created this photograph of an American Vulture preening itself on a dead tree snag at the Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk county, Florida during mid-July of 2017. Vultures are a vital part of nature that help recycle dead animals. While vultures are technically Birds of Prey, they typically do not hunt, preferring to scavenge the remains of already deceased animals. Vultures are generally among the larger sized birds that occupy the top of the food chain.
